Reviews
This review is for the EXTENDED stay RV sites! My husband and I lived in the campground for nearly 6 months. It was very quiet, staff was friendly, we loved our neighbors, and the nearness to the highway and downtown Williamsburg. That’s about the sum of the positives. The RV sites seemed like they were in a swamp. Especially during the rainy season. We know of several guests that asked for gravel to be added to the swampy sites which was never provided. When guests placed pavers or rugs to manage the mud, they were reprimanded and asked them to be removed. The sites are way overpriced for what they were worth. The bathrooms, dog park, pool, and laundry room could use more routine upkeep. I wish management would just put some money from their 5-star main campground into the extended stay sites because it could be so much more than what it is now.
We had such an amazing experience at this campground. We were here for an event with our family and stayed in a gorgeous deluxe cabin on site. The entire campground is well-maintained, clean and very family friendly. There were so many ways to entertain the children from a gorgeous, wide, open field with gaga ball and other activities, a wonderful playground with a swing, zip line and jumping pillows for Littles and bigger kids. They even had a mining activity at the campground for kids to mine for gems as well as a pool that was still open even in October! Every single cabin had its own fire pit and cute place to sit. The people were friendly, and it was such a pleasant wonderful experience. The cabin was very clean, extremely comfortable and perfect for a family of four. We had such a marvelous experience that we are definitely planning our trip back. Thank you so much for your hospitality. We will be back! Highly Recommend!
Ne warned that the pull out couch and bunk beds are extremely uncomfortable. You feel everything in the couch mattress and the bunks are hard as a rock. You also aren't allowed to cook in the cabins, so be prepared for only cold food or grilled food unless you go out to eat all the time. Other than those things, it was great. The cabin had a porch that was gated, so we were able to enjoy and the kids loved the playground and jump pillow thing.
My mom and I were in a pinch on our way to North Carolina from Canada. We needed a cheap place to stay for the night and this was the only available spot nearby. The manager Rob was incredibly patient and understanding of our situation as we were scratching pennies up to pay for the campground since the WIFI was down and we couldn't pay with card. He personally drove us to our campsite and was welcoming from beginning to end. The facilities were very nice and clean. The pool was great and it seems like a great place to camp with your family for a few days. Thank you Rob!
Loved the friendly, helpful staff. Appreciated the communication and easy check in process. Very clean rooms and absolutely ADORED the presentation in little details, like entering a quality Airbnb. A few of the best little surprises were the variety of TV channels and the Bible in the bedroom. Had an overall peaceful, excellent stay and will be coming back when visiting the area.
Fellow RV campers, please read before reserving a site at this campground! Cliff Notes Version: If you reserve a site at this campground during one of their many "Holiday weekends or special events", you will not get your deposit refunded in the event you have to cancel. I did not read then entire cancellation policy and it cost $150.77 to cancel my reservation. If I didn't cancel, I was told another nights stay would be added to my credit card on file.
The extended version for those that are interested: I made a week long reservation that encompassed Easter weekend. I had to cancel. Four weeks notice was given. I was offered the chance to change my reservation instead of losing the deposit. I chose to change the reservation to a week in October. As luck would have it, I am not able to use that reservation either. I truly wish I could. I called to cancel at least four weeks in advance of arrival. I was informed that I could cancel but it will cost me the full deposit amount of $150.77. I understand having a cancellation policy that has a financial incentive for the reservation holder to give adequate notice to the campground. Without, campgrounds are simply hoping guests show up. I also understand that the campground needs to maximize occupancy during the busiest times of year. However, Keeping $150.77 when the guest gives plenty of time to re-reserve the previously occupied site is wrong. I also believe it wrong that this policy is not clearly stated on the website. Once you make a reservation, you receive an email with all of the rules, regulations and policies. IF, you read past the standard cancellation policy for all types of sites, cabins, etc. you come across the "Holiday weekends and special event" cancellation which is different from the cancellation policy stated earlier in their email. Confusing, I know. If you simply read the cancellation policy for RV sites, it is misleading you to believe you have two days to cancel and receive a refund of your deposit minus $10. $10 is a completely reasonable cancellation fee.
I have never stayed at Williamsburg/Busch Gardens Area Campground. Based on my experience I have no intentions of staying at this campground in the future. The two star review represents my complete frustration with their misleading cancellation policy. I didn't feel it fair to leave a one star review as I have no experience actually staying at this campground. Staff was always responsive and courteous. Moral of the story, IF you are going to make a reservation at Williamsburg/Busch Garden Campground during one of their self proclaimed "Holiday weekend or special events," it is very expensive to cancel.
Believe the reviews, this is a beautiful, well maintained campground. The staff is friendly and there is no shortage of them when you need them. They are terrific.
Pool, showers and other facilities are clean and in nice shape. Many types of sites to chose from and lots of cabins. The location is excellent. Some may find this campground a bit pricey but it’s well worth it.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
This campground is VERY nice. We got a deluxe patio site that had a paved patio, swing, table with umbrella, firepit, and a gas grill! Almost all sites have gas grills. The pool was nice, super clean! Overall one of the nicest campgrounds …
